Abscons Sconse I just saw this very cool band performing in Cape Town, it's a high dose of energetic rock with catchy melodies and rousing instruments like djembe. It has a touch of John Butler Trio but harder, more punk and the voice is very cool, going into hoarse passages. This EP is not only great but they played many other songs that are definitely worth being recorded! Favorite track: Driving Business.

Driving through the desert, I can smell the dead on the side of the road My head is doing circles, While the cactus preach, and sing a perfect note my Attorneys making cocktails, he shakes a drink and he spills the beans, on where We’re heading don’t know, but we’re moving fast and we’re gathering speed I have another drink and I decide to cross the line I don’t know whats happening but I know that Hunter S Thomson Wood. A wayward destination, don’t wanna wake these sleeping beasts I can see a devil snoring, while the angel on my shoulders happy Edging me on further, this place it looks to familiar When the sign above the bar says, (you deserve another) all hell breaks loose I have another drink and I decide to cross the line I don’t know whats happening but I know that Hunter S Thomson Wood.

You hold on to a silhouette of her and you keep It close at hand for those times when you’re driving at speed The shape and form it distorts but the image simple I dream of chaos and I shake my head and live a little. Please be friendly, please be kind This is not the way to live our lives keep running on, I’m running on. The road behind is a dark cloud of broken dreams But please be careful, cos distraction can kill at this speed. This is the Driving Business. With hands out you are feeling for a shape in the dark You find a scent that will lead you on a dangerous path Its over grown but you make it out when the time is right and Lead me through chaos as I shake my head and live a little. Keep it together man, hold the wheel I know I’m shaking, but the purpose is you have to feel, Your hands are slipping and you, run the risk. Of losing your mind man. But fuck it, this is the driving business.

about

The West Coast Wolves were a little surprised by the success of their debut EP “Hold the Wheel”, but then this prodigious group of musicians have been building a buzz in Cape Town since they started touring last year. The Wolves have been described as an irish-hippie-folk band with catchy melodies and rousing instruments like djembe, but the real drawcard which defines the Wolves is their multi-genre approach to songwriting, which incorporates elements of reggae, electronica, ska, surf punk, celtic and hip hop.

The Wolves have booked studio time to record a full length record this year to capture the raw energy of their incendiary live set.
